I would love a copy of Maya’s latest book. I have always been a lover of poetry since I was a child and can still recite many of the poems of A.A. Milne, probably my introduction to poetry. Although of course nursery rhymes came before that. I have written poetry all my life but never even considered publication, it was always quite personal stuff I.e. poems for colleagues retirements etc. I enjoyed reading your interview of Maya and of course as you know always enjoy your writing on Substack

Julie, your name was already in the hat. Not only is Maya a fine poet and great teacher, she is also a strong advocate for a healthy lifestyle. It is important to keep your mind and body in shape.
I especially liked reading Maya's stance regarding revisions. I am an old boy extensively writing poetry for the first time in many years. After working on the poems for well over a couple of years now I've discovered the unquestionable importance of revision, especially in understanding that what I can bring to them at this point I couldn't have brought to them anytime before. It's quite the process, but I've embraced it.
Now I feel like I know much more about Maya through this interview Mary, thank you and thanks Maya for sharing your love and dedication for the written word! xo

As soon as the HFU residency (this week!) is done, I’ll be rolling out the details in the CWC portal. I’m so excited—I’m finalizing the courses and speakers right now, and I’m dedicating one full day to leading generative sessions, so we’re both learning AND just generally writing a lot of new stuff, which I need too at this stage! Xoxox
But here is the ONE thing that is not clear from the interview: I have Maya pegged as an Enneagram 4, with a huge 3 wing, and a 5 wing substantial enough to account for the discipline and rigor required to complete a PhD, publish three poetry collections, and serve as founder/CEO of an alt-MFA startup. Am I right?
I did an MFA in poetry early in the days of issuing such grad degrees and in returning to writing later in life it's encouraging to know of young and accomplished writers and lit community leaders such as Maya. So admire her dedication and discipline to her own and others' work, and of course, her poetry itself.
