He was that kind of guy! I don’t think I’ve ever gone from one extreme of terror to the other one of laughter. And he gave me the story of a lifetime.😊

Mary,

This is pure comedy gold. I feared for you and your beautiful house and forgot about the introduction. I remember hearing about the flight that got turned around because of a similar incident. Thank you for sharing your mirth and giving us a laugh amidst the chaos in the world. Great job with the writing and the pacing of this piece.

Colleen, I just could not keep this to myself. We all need some hilarity in our lives. I think I was shaking with laughter for half an hour, at least. Talk about going from one extreme to another. Thank you for commenting, dear friend.💕

I love to see humor about the most serious things. And how impish of you to suggest where you were going without actually getting there until the very end.

Rona, we all need a good dose of humor in our lives. And you know Chekhov’s law. In this case, the gun (so to speak😊) was already hanging (ditto) on the wall. I’m glad you enjoyed this.

Keep writing. It's working. So much to appreciate about this and this paragraph aligned totally. "Before he left us, my husband reclaimed the house and transformed it. Someday I’ll give you a tour. He honored his vision and turned it into a place where people walk in, gasp, and say, This is beautiful. And it is."

You and me, both--husbands of 43 years die April 2023.

If Tom was not the genius he was in so many areas, he would have loved to also be a general contractor. That smell of fresh lumber as the semi unloaded the building supplies for the crew to work on today was an aphrodisiac for him. Everywhere we ever lived, he transformed the house around his vision of what would please me. And then surrounded it with a nature theme park of native plants, bluebird trails, wildflower meadows, and water features. People still gasp.

Beautiful writing, great story! I totally understand the part about your husband taking care of the things you didn't have to worry about, Mary. I also had that.

Thank you, Beth. I wish I could — well, not really — take credit for the events that took place.😱🤣. But had to tell them, and in the best way I could. I didn’t have to invent a single thing. Just ordered them properly, I hope.

I loved this story! Perhaps it really was the Rapture, who's to say? My takeaway: keep everything in good working order, upgrade to "equipment" with rechargeable batteries, and use as often as necessary. It's wonderful for stress relief. You're the best Mary. XO 🥰❤️
